Serum Calcium and Well-being
Lab Values Don't Tell the Whole Story1
Patients With Hypoparathyroidism Segmented by Serum Calcium Levels and Well-being1*
Total serum Ca2+: ≥ 8.42 mg/dL
Ionized serum Ca2+: ≥ 4.41 mg/dL
STUDY DESIGN:
Patients with hypoparathyroidism were categorized based on a combination of their biochemical serum calcium levels (recommended or low, where low was considered total serum calcium < 8.42 mg/dL or serum ionized calcium < 4.41 mg/dL) and their well-being using the EQ5D-VAS (high or low well-being, where low was defined as < 80 using a 0 to 100 score).1
48%
of patients with hypoparathyroidism experience reduced well-being despite achieving recommended serum calcium levels with conventional therapy1*
